Biography
Soprano Joyce Chan began her classical singing journey under the tutelage of Ms. Sindy Lee, Ms. Chan Siu Kwan in Hong Kong, and Mr. Valentin Peytchinov in New York. Her dedication to the craft has led her to participate in numerous masterclasses with William Matteuzzi, Francesco De Poli, Eduardo Chama, Kathryn Wright, and Peter Tanisits across the globe.
Throughout the past decade, Joyce has engaged in a diverse array of solo and choral performances, debuting in Italy, England, Bangkok, and Hong Kong. She has a profound love for opera, which has been a cornerstone of her artistic journey, allowing her to explore staging and interpretation from classic to contemporary works with Opera Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Arts Festival. Joyce has not only performed but has also contributed to community outreach through music. She was selected as a training coach for the "No Limits - Sing For Life" program, a collaboration with the Hong Kong Arts Festival and The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust. Under the mentorship of Maartje de Lint from the Netherlands, Joyce has utilized singing therapy to support individuals with dementia in daycare centers, helping to awaken memories through familiar songs.
As a classical vocal coach and choral conductor, Joyce brings over ten years of teaching experience to her students at Joyce Chan Vocal Studio, guiding them to impressive achievements in various international competitions in Wien, Düsseldorf, Tokyo, and Macau. Domestically, her students have won championships in prestigious festivals, including the Hong Kong Schools Music Festival and the Hong Kong Joint School Music Association. Since beginning her choral journey in 2019, Joyce has led primary and secondary school choirs to notable successes, including a Second Place finish at the Hong Kong Schools Music Festival and a Gold Award in the Hong Kong Joint School Music Association in 2024.
With a commitment to nurturing the next generation of vocal talent and a belief in the healing power of music, Joyce continues to inspire those around her, fostering a community where music enriches lives.
